From Plastic bottles to beautiful hand woven rugs

About the production: Our carpets, like all Eco Inner Living products, are handmade. Experienced craftsmen make sustainable carpets from old plastic bottles to protect the environment. Slight variations in texture, knots and appearance are therefore characteristics of the products and should not be considered defects. Our products are carefully made in India by certified suppliers. The skilled, adult artisans (no child labour) are treated fairly, work in a safe environment and are adequately paid.

The carpets are made entirely from recycled PET bottles. Waste collectors collect the bottles and sell them to waste merchants. The PET bottles are then carefully separated from other plastic waste and resold to recycling centres. Labels, lids and lid rings are removed from the bottles before they are compressed into square packs. These packs, made up of thousands of bottles, are then resold to recycling companies. A special process then begins, during which the plastic is first washed and dried. Heating removes any remaining impurities before the bottles are granulated into PET flakes. This step transforms waste into a new raw material: PET flakes. This material is used for a range of products that would otherwise use polyester. Spun into yarn, the flakes become sustainable carpets and other beautiful textile products.

To prevent the sustainable carpets from slipping and causing unsightly situations, we recommend an anti-slip mat among the beautiful home accessories. Especially in combination with wooden or tiled floors, the anti-slip mats should be used.
